We have been well prepared for the big day for awhile (go go shopping ahead, to avoid the mass rush). We had the check-in-fair last week (found out who her teacher was and got other info.). We met her teacher yesterday for a few moments and looked around the classroom.
Kaylee's teacher this year is Mrs. Garcia! She loves Dr. Suess (especially the Cat in the Hat)! Kaylee had a great time listing off all the Dr. Suess books she has read. She seems really nice and I think Kaylee is going to have a great time learning from her!
On Monday night, Michael gave Kaylee her back-to-school blessing. So glad to have the priesthood in our home. What a fun tradition we will have every year.
Lots of kids everywhere when we arrived (the highschool, middleschool & elementary school are all right next to each other). We parked in the church/Seminary parking lot behind the school to avoid the parent drop off traffic (success!) and walked around to the front, where Kaylee immediately spotted her principal all dressed up in a tux-suit (with coat tails). She thought that was great!
Kaylee mentioned that though she was excited, she was a bit scared about the first day. I saw no fear in my daughter as we walked into her classroom today. She was her ever bright and cheerful self. She wandered around trying to meet the other kids and make friends. I overheard her asking one of the little girls if she happened to like her dress & sparkly headband. I mentioned to her that if she complimented other little kids it may make them feel less nervous around her and help her make friends quicker (so then she told the little girl that she liked her pink backpack.. go go Kaylee). All-in-all, she was herself, trying to get all the kids to gravitate towards her and be instant friends.
We finally left, with big hugs and kisses from Taylor.. who as we were walking to car, repeated to tell me that it was unfair that Kaylee was in school and she wasn't. The word 'unfair' must have been repeated over 50 times. (The other day, she also informed me that she deserves a cool Eagle shirt just like Kaylee and spread her arms to show me her wings.)
We'll have to see how the day went..
Anyway, It would be that the night before school begins... I would have some nasty braxton hicks from 12-3am (so mom was a bit tired when she got up at 6:30am this morning)... so we ran a little behind on picture taking time.. sorry about that!
Uniforms!
Looking Sweet! Compare her to her Kindergarten pictues! Wow! She has grown!!
Adding her own foot pose for me and smirk!
Yay for being able to recycle last year's backpack!
