Usually it is one of our children coming in to tell us they had some sort of scary dream.
- Taylor's most recent involved a sad story about a Monster that took her toy... she just kept repeating, "It took my toy..."
- Kaylee's most recent involved zombies, but she is doing better now that Mike gave her a little journal next to her bed to write down her dreams... telling her this way she would be able to control them better. She told me, that she just makes all the zombies, vampires, werewolves, etc., sit down to tea (water) with her these days.
So last night, between a shoulder sunburn & being pregnant (I swear pregnancy hates me... I'm not supposed to be uncomfortable for another couple of weeks... it is starting too early this time). After my many marathon roll overs from side-to-side, I went down in the basement to read for a bit. This was around 12:15am.
Kaylee came down, at some point while I was reading, to see how I was doing. I told her the sunburn & pregnancy were making it hard for me to sleep. We talked a little bit about why pregnancy does that, but then she, excitedly, informed me she could tell me why I got a sunburn. She told me it was because the Sun was powerful and that its use of gravity made my skin go all red. Yep... gravity is the cause. So we talked a bit about what gravity was again and then I got all scientific on her and talked about the Sun emitting waves and how that interacts with the skin. Her eyes kinda glossed over and she asked if she could go back to bed. I guess that is how I get her to go to sleep.
Around 1:15 am I thought that my reading had sufficiently made me tired enough to try the sleep thing again. I had just laid down, hugging my body pillow when I heard a chirp. I waited to see if I had imagined it, but the chirp came again. I told myself if it chirped a 3rd time I would get up to investigate (I waited till it chirped 4 times). Of course I knew what the chirp was (fire alarm petering out), just had to find it and stop it for the time being. I made Mike get up, cause he is taller.
I felt like we were in that Modern Family episode, where Phil tries to find and take care of their
Anyway, it turned out to be the girls' room's fire alarm. We took it down, and of course it decided to really go off and both girls work up. Happily they went back to bed, and happily the alarm stopped. We heard another chirp and thought maybe we had gotten the wrong one, so we removed another before figuring out that the real one was just taking a few minutes to completely die out.
After that... we went to bed. And I slept.
I think those fire alarms hadn't been changed for a while....we changed the one in the master bedroom while we were there...talk about a pain to reach...so hopefully that one doesn't go off on you! :)
