Curiosity because of the Bogeyman....

So, around 2am last night, I awoke to see a smallish figure in our doorway (a hesitant one... who I think decided it was better not to try and wake Mike or I up, as it was departing before I called out her name).

Kaylee told me she had had a bad dream. From what I could gather it seems that dream Aunt Tiffany (good going dream Tiffany! Tell your kids to be on the look out for her...) told her that there was a bogeyman, which resulted in the bogeyman becoming a part of said dream-turned-nightmare. We talked about the bogeyman not being real, had her say a little prayer and then I laid down next to her for a few minutes to relax her.

As I got back into bed, I started thinking about an odd occurrence that happens quite often. I would say that 90% of the time that when one of my kids is about to come in and ask for something (in the middle of the night), I'll be awake right before it happens. It is like my mind, body, or spirit (your pick)... knows that within minutes some little child (or something else, I've woken up prior to being called on the phone in the middle of the night, etc.) is going to need something.

I come out of deep sleep in preparation for some future event that I had no knowledge of beforehand. Eerie...

Not to say this is how it is every time. Sometimes I awake when they are in the process of describing to Mike what is going on... or sometimes Mike tells me about something that happened in the middle of the night the next morning (muwahahaha... slept right through that...).

But, it does lead me to wonder if I need to be aware of something in the middle of the night when I do randomly wake up (lately because of pregnancy it is just bathroom breaks... ha).

So.. out of curiosity, does this happen to any of you?

  1. Absolutely! Once, I woke up just in time to see Jeremiah about to roll off the high hotel bed next to ours. I was able to call out to him, and then move him so that he wouldn't roll out later in the night. Tender mercies!
