Our Taylor Turned 4!

Taylor turned 4 recently! It has been a great year to see this little girl grow!! Her personality is beginning to really shine through. She can be quite witty at times and has impeccable comedic timing. She'll laugh the loudest when she is being silly, thinking she is the funniest person ever. She has her own agenda and will hold her ground (I tell Mike that she gets her stubborn streak from him.. he thinks otherwise). And yet, when it comes down to it... she can be ever so sweet (probably why she gets away with being so evil some times).

And still... her best friend is Kaylee. Oh how that little girl loves her big sister. It makes my heart happy to see the love she has for her big sister. When we asked her about the things she 'loves' her immediate and only reply was, Kaylee.

During The Last Year:
  • Talking increased (sometimes she just won't stop... she just goes & goes... kind of like the energizer bunny)
  • Understanding of what she is saying has increased by all those around her.
  • Potty trained (I told you she was stubborn)
  • Became a big sister (Loves her little brother and tries ever so much to be helpful)
  • Sociability is increasing with other little kids.
  • Interest/Love has increased in reading (will pretend to read books [though probably believes she really is])
  • Still enjoys imaginative play (and can make any inanimate object come to life in the worlds she creates)
  • Fell in love with the moon & stars (something about being able to see them... makes them exciting... Glad the orange glow of Chicago isn't blocking that sight anymore)
We know this next year is going to be great! And we look forward to all the new things she will begin to do, explore, and learn about. We love our Taylor!! And are so glad that we were blessed to have her come to our family!

Other info...

Since we moved (the 2nd time), every time Taylor would come out of Primary she would immediately exclaim, "Not Fair! It's my birthday party." Every. Single. Week. In a way, it kind of became an obsession of hers. She brought the idea of birthdays up whenever she could.

As presents started to arrive, she liked having them stacking up in a spot in our living room. And she would accuse anyone of messing with her stuff if anything was slightly askew.

When the day of her birthday dawned. We allowed her to open two presents first thing that morning (The "when to open presents" is still a debate between Michael & I). I'm not sure if she understood, right then, that both presents were for her... because she kept telling us that one of them was Kaylee's... no matter how many times we all told her that they both were hers. She got over that quickly enough, though.

That night, some of Michael's siblings came over to have some ice cream and some very sad looking cupcakes (some day we'll be better cake/cupcake froster people). It was simple, and it was fun. We are glad to have family so close.

Another Puzzle!

This one even has his name on the box!

Mike did this for Marbles: The Brain Store, a company found in Chicago. Go! Go! Mike!

Here's a close-up as requested:

Introducing Oliver Youssef!

Oliver wears mittens a lot... he likes to grab his face...
He also has no control over his movement and hits himself quite often...

Oliver is very sweet looking when he is in his awake mode. Just chills out and looks around with these wide eyes...

He's got a little bit of jaundice... so he gets some sun time these days...

Oliver makes lots of fun faces...

Oliver is a string bean... I probably will never get a fat baby... sigh at no pinching of rolls of fat...

He could be cold... he could have a gas bubble... he could be hungry... or he could be getting his diaper changed...

We think we got lucky again and had another cute baby... then again we are his parents...

A few more pictures and birth story follow...
